The emotion most commonly associated with tube feeding? FEAR! Why?? Probably because we've all heard of bad tube feeding experiences that have convinced us not to EVER try it again.
We want to help you put those fears behind you because tube feeding is really easy to do correctly, and is one of the most valuable techniques for a breeder to master.
This picture shows the proper way to hold a puppy for tube insertion (if you're right-handed) - gently introducing a soft, red rubber catheter (8 French for a 13-16 oz puppy), pointing it towards the left side of the puppy's throat to help it find its way to the esophagus.
We think it's best to be able to do it without extra help (for those middle-of-the-night feedings that everyone else bails out on ya for). Have a great weekend, stay tuned for more next week!
