Dr. Jan (Laketa) grew up in a basketball family in the Chicago area. After graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelors degree in clothing design she realized she didn't have a creative bone in her body and went on to vet school, graduating from Auburn University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She was a veterinary technician for several years before vet school and has been practicing medicine for over 25 years. She is married to Dr. David Shepherd who owns North Roswell Veterinary Clinic. They have 2 children, Morgan and Quinn, who attend UGA and Kennesaw State University, 4 dogs and 7 cats. She enjoys gardening, Auburn football, and attending continuing education courses.
